How I Promoted a Nationwide Youth Event as a Freelancer in Iloilo: Social Media, Strategy, and Merchandise

My Freelance Journey as a Social Media Manager for a Nationwide Youth Event

Freelancer in Iloilo: Social Media Manager for National Event Promotion & Merchandise Success

As a freelancer in Iloilo, I’ve worn many creative hats—but my role as social media manager for the CBYFP Biennial Assembly was one of the most fulfilling projects in my freelance career. What began as a simple mission to promote a youth event became a powerful lesson in strategy, storytelling, social media management, and merchandising—all rolled into one campaign.

The Mission:

Promote a Youth Assembly, Fund It Through Merch

When I took on the freelance role to lead social media promotion for CBYFP (Convention Baptist Youth Fellowship of the Philippines), I knew the stakes were high. We needed more than just likes and shares—we needed event promotion that translated into registrations, merchandise sales, and community engagement.

As a freelancer, I wore every hat: strategist, designer, writer, and merch marketer. The goal was simple but ambitious—energize youth across the Philippines, promote the event digitally, and make it financially self-sustaining through merch sales.

Strategy Meets Storytelling:

My Social Media Management Process

1. Built a Social Media Blueprint
I created a content strategy centered on unity, faith, and growth—key themes for our audience of young leaders. Every post was designed to inspire action, spark interaction, and keep the energy high.
2. Designed the Event Website
As a freelance web content creator, I launched a dedicated event website to act as a nostalgia hub—filled with throwback photos, speaker teasers, and info that made the event feel alive even before it started. See website here ↗
3. Crafted Visuals That Stood Out
I used Canva, Illustrator and Photoshop to design all graphics: countdowns, speaker promos, merch ads, and post templates. Every visual followed a cohesive look that was both vibrant and on-brand for the CBYFP identity.

5. Focused on One Platform: Facebook
Instead of spreading thin, I chose to focus all efforts on Facebook—where most of our youth audience was active. I used Meta Business Suite to schedule posts, track analytics, and refine our strategy in real time.
6. Promoted Merchandise as Part of the Movement
Merchandising wasn’t an afterthought—it was a key revenue stream. I designed the merch, marketed it using engaging posts, and made each item feel like a symbol of community. Each purchase supported the event’s logistics and speaker honorariums.
7. Maintained Constant Engagement
I actively responded to messages via Messenger and DMs, built rapport with the audience, and fostered a digital space where young people felt seen and heard.
